An internship in the Beluga School for Life opens “new horizons”
For young people from 18 years old on, who are either already studying or who would like to prepare themselves for their academic studies, the BSfL offers the opportunity to complete an internship or practice semester in Thailand. In September 2009 five individuals have already begun and have provided a “fresh wind” in the BSfL this way.
Sandy Fuchs from Koblenz, Laura Wessels from Haren, Claudio Casselini from Merzenhausen, Christine Fischer-Moll from Bremen and Christin Adrian, also from Bremen, started their new tasks simultaneously and arrived the aid project altogether on September 1st, 2009 after a long journey.
Already within the first days they had very personal experiences. At first the bleakness of the rooms somewhat bothered Sandy and Laura, but they comfortably arranged their rooms soon afterwards and quickly became adjusted to their new home. Christine on the other hand was not surprised whatsoever about the sparely equipped living areas with concrete flooring – she was not expecting luxury at all in an aid project in southern Thailand.
However, the living aspect was only meaningful momentarily for the five of them. Already after a short time in the project, in which the young adults passed through a job rotation while getting to know all areas and staff of the BSfL, they took the children into their hearts. Hereafter at the latest, it was clear to everyone why they had decided for an internship in the Beluga School for Life. “I believe that I will undergo a great personal transformation from my stay in the BSfL. Additionally, I would like to learn from the children and on the other hand give them something back in return,” said Claudio while describing his expectations at the beginning of his stay in the BSfL.
