Learning through Experience
Those who want to learn for life learn best from life. Unfortunately, traditional school structures often prevent this; ex-cathedra teaching, questions whose answer the teacher already knows, little attention to the individual student... to name only a few examples.
The Beluga School for Life follows the guidelines of the Thai curriculum, which in some areas leaves room for a different approach to learning. For not only employers, but also the King of Thailand, are complaining about a lack of knowledge among school graduates and are demanding a more practical approach. At the Beluga School for Life children choose how they want to spend their afternoons during the semester from a selection of about 25 different projects. Based on local conditions, the projects deal with sustainability issues. Following the approaches of explorative learning and learning by doing the children experiment, are introduced to Thai traditions, and discover themselves and the community. Seriousness and playful trial and error are no contradiction, but are encouraged in a child-friendly way by means of many entrepreneurial activities.
