TUI Suisse: 5.000 Euro for the project “nature washing”
One main aspect of the Beluga School for Life is the sustainable and ecological policy of our charity project. This includes education about climate changes as well as its impacts on everyday life and measures of environmental protection. Therefore the project “nature washing” developed. Thanks to the great donation of 5.000 Euro from TUI Suisse, a reed-filter sytem can be build on the grounds of the Beluga School for Life. When finishing the project the waste water of the BSfL can be cleaned biologically and afterwards be used for example for the irrigation of plants.
TUI Suisse is a member of Futouris e.V., an association of tourism companies, which stands up for the sustainable development of the living conditions in disadvantaged regions.

Quite a special evening – New Year´s Eve 2010 in the Beluga School for Life
New Year´s Eve 2010 at 7:30 pm: all guests of the Beluga School for Life arrive at the restaurant- everyone is excited about the following night. The Beluga School for Life has invited her guests to a special New Year´s Eve-Party. After a welcoming drink and some warm words of the project manager Jörg Thiemann, the extensive buffet with Thai and European specialties opened. Guests could watch directly how their food was prepared – fresh little meat and seafood spits, pasta, salats and deserts, to name only a few. Moreover most of the ingredients came from the Organic Farming-Area of the Beluga School for Life. The gormandizing was accompanied by some songs of the Beluga School for Life band. Then the kids presented three different Thai dances in the meeting room. Afterwards the guests had the opportunity to take part in different activities. In the bar they could get some fresh cocktails or they could meet a fortune teller in the restaurant to ask for future happenings. Some took the chance to relax by a Thai massage at the pool. Others watched the classic shortfilm “Dinner for one” in the meeting room. But also the Tsunamie-museum opened its doors for those who wanted to watch the movie “Life and Death in a Fisherman´s Village”. Even the children´s shop offered its products at this special night. Among other things you could buy books of our project “bookbindery and print shop” or bags from our sewing shop. About midnight all guests went back to the restaurant to clink the glasses for New Year and watch the firework. Before the night draw to an end, all guests were invited to rise the traditional “Sky Lantern” with the best wishes for the New Year.

Grand opening of the new school building
After eleven month the construction of the new school building in the Beluga School for Life is completed. In November 2010 the school building was formally opened. Nine monks blessed the new building faithful to Thai tradition. BSfL ambassador Miriam Piehlau cut the symbolic band and opened the school building. A few days later the private secretary of the king as well as some other high-ranking political representatives came to visit the Beluga School for Life and paid great respect to the project with its new building. After his accreditation the building bears the name of the private secretary of the king "Wotcharathai". Now the kids of the Beluga School for Life have a 1.400 mē large school building, generously spaced classrooms flooded with sunlight, open cut floors and laboratories. Finally the BSfL offers enough space for the students, so that now no one has to attend schools outside the Beluga School for Life.
The construction of the building has only become possible because of the generous donations of the RTL-Telethon.
