Founder and sponsor:
Niels Stolberg
Niels Stolberg founded the Beluga Shipping GmbH, Bremen as a pure cargo operator in 1995. Three years later he bought the first ship, followed by the first newly-built vessel in 1999, the MV "Werder Bremen".
Beginning with the turn of the millennium, Stolberg further advanced the fleet expansion with new deliveries of multipurpose heavy-lift project carriers. In the year 2002 he founded subsidiaries in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Singapore. One year later these were followed by offices in Beijing, then Houston, Texas in 2004, and the branch in Shanghai, China in 2006. In addition, Stolberg acquired the shipping company GenChart B.V. in Rotterdam in 2003.
At the moment, the fleet comprises 66 ships. By 2010, it will have increased to a prospective 75 ships. Due to the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL) Beluga Shipping is world market leader in the project and heavy-lift sector since 2008. Niels Stolberg married in 1992 and is father to three daughters.
Project management Thailand:
Jörg Thiemann
The business graduate has been employed by the Beluga School for Life since 2005 and is responsible for the on-site controlling of the aid project.
Prior to his employment at the Beluga Shipping GmbH, Jörg Thiemann worked in the area of project controlling for the Gauselmann NetworX as well as the Amazon Logistik GmbH. Thiemann specializes in planning, organizing and managing projects.
Project management Germany:
Claudia Gösling
Before she accepted a position as management assistant at Beluga Shipping in June 1999, the trained foreign-language correspondent worked for the international freight forwarder hartrodt GmbH for a period of five years.
Among others, she subsequently worked for Beluga do Brasil in São Paulo. Since April 2005 she has been focusing on the completion and further development of the Beluga School for Life as a project manager.
