HOME - a unique music project for tsunami victims

The aid project receives prominent support from eight renowned German pop musicians. Last year, they recorded the very atmospheric and artistically ambitious CD "HOME" together with the children of the Beluga School for Life.

The charity album was produced directly on-site in only twelve days. For every CD/DVD sold, the tsunami orphans of the Beluga School for Life in Na Nai ("village in the rice field") in the south of Thailand and the School for Life in Chiang Mai receive a donation of five euro. This money will primarily be used to secure the expansion of both schools in order to offer the children a quality education.

Musicians forego compensation

Apart from the organizer, vocalist and documentary director Kai Wingenfelder (member of the band "Fury In The Slaughterhouse"), the producer Jens Krause, the artists Astrid North (member of the Band "Cultured Pearls") and Maya Saban, both vocalists, participated in the production of the CD; additional artists were drummer Stephan Eggert (member of the band "Selig"), vocalist Thomas Hanreich (thom., member of the band "Vivid"), keyboarder Gunter Papperitz (member of the band "Soulounge"), as well as guitarist Henning Rümenapp (member of the band "Guano Apes") - all of the artists gladly donated their contribution to the project.

DVD features impressive documentary

"HOME" contains a dozen warm-hearted songs - a mix of different pop styles, partly interwoven with Thai musical elements. Both the German and English-speaking songs were published in the innovative dual disc format as a combination CD/DVD. The DVD features spectacular pictures capturing the atmosphere and impressions during the creation of "HOME".

Prominent Ambassadors

The Beluga School for Life is pleased about the support of the prominent ambassadors Susanne Gärtner, Tim Borowski and Miriam Pielhau!

Susanne GärtnerSusanne Gärtner
Even prior to the visit of the Thai Crown Princess Sirindhorn, the project had been receiving a great deal of attention as an exemplary form of private initiative. UNESCO and the United Nations have classified the underlying concept as "particularly valuable". The actress Susanne Gärtner, who has been actively dedicating herself to UNESCO for quite some time, graciously agreed to be an ambassador for the BSfL. Gärtner plays the leading role in the ZDF-telenovela "Julia - Wege zum Glück“.

Miriam PielhauMiriam Pielhau
"My husband and I experienced the tsunami and all the suffering connected with it first hand. Since then there is this soul connection between us, the Thais and particularly the region around Khao Lak; not only because the people showed us their unlimited willingness to help us in our flight from the wave and in the jungle. Therefore it is a matter close to my heart to return some of the help we received back then. The Beluga School for Life helps children and families who fell victim to this incomparable catastrophe in a unique way and makes possible for them what seems almost impossible: a new, happy life. You can participate in this process through your donation or stay at the BSfL." Miriam Pielhau works as TV presenter and journalist.
